Here to help you with your business Employment advice

When you are focusing on running a company, dealing with employment issues can be time consuming and draining.

Employment Topics for an Employer

Employment Topics for an Employer - Kent, Sussex & Surrey

We understand that unexpected situations can arise and, alongside running your business successfully, these matters can appear daunting and if not dealt with properly, become time-consuming as they potentially lead to more formal litigation.

Our team can assist with these issues, a few of which we have outlined as examples below:

Sickness

Sickness absence management is a key area for employers, which can most effectively be managed by clear communication and a procedure that outlines the steps that will be taken when an employee is absent either in the short or longer term.

The changes to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) mean that employers need to ensure that their procedure for paying their employees when they are off work due to sickness, is compliant. A clear procedure for returning to work, the involvement of Occupational Health where appropriate, and having managers up to speed on the procedure in place, can help to deal with matters.

Where needed, our team can help review your current policies and offer guidance on specific queries that may arise in relation to sickness absence.

Performance

Where there are performance concerns for an individual employee, our team can advise employers on their options and how best to support their staff through these processes. Where there is the possibility of dismissal, our team can work with you on this to find a tailored solution which means that all other suitable options are explored in the first instance.

We can also review your policy in respect of performance management, and work with you to ensure that this suits your workplace and the issues that you may encounter.
