One client told Chambers: "CooperBurnett takes a truly personal and dedicated approach whilst retaining professionalism and expertise. Every question and matter raised has been dealt with quickly and expertly."
Since its launch in 1990, Chambers has dedicated itself to ‘delivering detailed rankings and insights into the world's top lawyers, legal departments and law firms’. It is present in 200 jurisdictions and receives 66,000 submissions annually, with its team conducting 366,000 interviews and surveys each year.

Victoria Sampson and Russell Brinkhurst, Partners in our Corporate and Commercial team; and David Brown, Construction Partner continue to be individually ranked in Chambers. This year we are delighted that they are joined in the 2027 edition by Tom Lumsden from our Commercial Property & Development team.
Tom recently celebrated 20 years with TeamCB. An expert in advising charities and care home owners on site acquisition, disposal and finance, he also advises on all aspects of leasehold enfranchisement.
One client told Chambers: "Tom is an outstanding lawyer and a complete pleasure to work with. He tackled some excruciatingly complicated issues and got the job done."
Russell Brinkhurst joined our team as a Partner in April 2023 and enjoys working closely with business owners, becoming their ‘trusted adviser’. He has been ranked in Chambers for a number of years now.
One client said in the 2027 guide: "Russell has a real ability to cut through complexity and focus on achieving the right outcome as efficiently as possible. He is calm, measured and highly effective at resolving difficult situations."
Victoria Sampson celebrated 30 years with TeamCB in April. She is a member of CooperBurnett’s Management Board, Head of Corporate and Commercial Services and co-leads the firm.
A client told Chambers: "Victoria is our go-to person to whom we introduce clients; she has a rare balance of professionalism, personal touch and humour, and we trust her implicitly."
With more than 30 years’ experience, David Brown joined CooperBurnett in March 2023 to launch and head up our Construction team. His work typically involves providing dispute resolution and contract law advice to building contractors, architects, surveyors and construction professionals.
His feedback from Chambers 2027 includes: "David has always been pragmatic, forthright and fair-minded, which enables us to choose a course of action we feel comfortable with."
Says Joseph Oates, Head of Contentious at CooperBurnett and the firm’s co-lead, alongside Victoria Sampson:
“Being listed in Chambers is always a huge accolade for us as a firm. We are particularly proud of our Corporate M&A and Real Estate teams that have been recognised once again, as well as being delighted by the continued recognition received by Russell, Victoria and David, and the well-deserved inclusion of Tom in the 2027 rankings."
