At CooperBurnett LLP we remain proud of our longstanding association with our local Law Society.
CooperBurnett Partners Victoria Sampson, John Spence and Katie Gillam have all previously held the position of President, as did former Partner Jonathan Smithers, who went on to become President of The Law Society.
Founded in May 1933, the TWTDLS is led by a committee elected annually. It supports local solicitors and other legal professionals while representing members in consultations with The Law Society, the Solicitors Regulation Authority and government bodies. In addition to solicitors, membership includes paralegals, trainees, legal executives, barristers and in-house counsel.
CooperBurnett has played an active role within the organisation for many years and that continues through Family & Matrimonial Partner Gemma Gillespie and Commercial Property & Development Associate Solicitor, Imogen Fleur, who both currently serve on the TWTDLS committee.
This is Gemma's third period on the committee and she continues to support the Society's work in promoting membership and engagement across the local legal community.
"Members benefit enormously from being part of the TWTDLS, whether that's through professional development, networking opportunities or simply building stronger connections with colleagues across the region,” Gemma explains.
No stranger to the role of the Law Society locally, Imogen spent three years on the committee of the Kent Junior Lawyers Division prior to qualifying, two years as President. She is currently Head of the Events Committee at TWTDLS.
"Events are a fantastic way of strengthening relationships within the local legal community," says Imogen. "Whether it's a networking event, educational session or the annual dinner, these occasions give members the chance to make new connections, share experiences and stay engaged with what's happening across the profession."
