Russell Brinkhurst joined our Corporate and Commercial team as a Partner in April 2023, having worked at another regional firm across the table from CooperBurnett on transactions for a number of years.
Russell advises on a broad scope of corporate and commercial law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, disposals, re-organisations and demergers, investment and shareholders’ agreements and employee incentive schemes, all with a particular focus on owner managed businesses.
Russell also advises on all aspects of commercial law and has worked with numerous start-ups, both from the UK and abroad. This includes assisting clients with data protection investigations by the ICO following data breaches, and general contract compliance. He enjoys working closely with business owners and becoming part of their team and their ‘trusted adviser’.
Recent transactions that Russell has advised on include:
Advising shareholders on their sale of the entire issued share capital of a clinical waste business to a private equity backed acquirer.
Acting for the shareholders comprising an Employee Ownership Trust and minority shareholder on the sale of the entire issued share capital of a manufacturing business with clients in the defence sector. Assisting our clients with the National Security & Investment Act 2021 (NSIA) related enquiries and clearance.
Advising a client on the acquisition of 73% of the share capital of a manufacturing business in the North-East of England, with options to acquire the remaining share capital in the years to come.
In his spare time, Russell likes to be outdoors; whether that’s enjoying the countryside or taking out his ‘mid-life crisis’ car for a spin on sunny days.
