Financial Settlements

Financial Settlements - Kent, Sussex & Surrey

When divorce proceedings are started, various financial claims are triggered, and these are known as “financial remedy claims”.

Both parties have identical claims in matrimonial law for court orders relating to spousal maintenance (alimony), claims against each other’s pensions, lump sum payments and the sale, transfer or postponement of sale of the family home.  Expert advice is needed to understand your financial claims and our family law team can offer advice and guidance in relation to the various financial applications and claims that may be relevant to your specific circumstances.  We can offer guidance on securing the necessary financial disclosure to drafting a court order that reflects the financial agreement reached.  If an agreement is not possible and court proceedings are required, we will provide advice and representation throughout the court process.  Where appropriate, we will assist you with reaching an agreement without starting court proceedings.  We can also assist you in relation to alternatives to court, such as mediation, arbitration, a private financial hearing and collaborative law.

Please see our pricing leaflet for our range of options for reaching a financial settlement.  We can discuss with you the most cost-effective way to manage the process and whether we can offer any fixed fees where appropriate.  If you would like to find out more, then please contact us.
