In 2021, just Sarah Strong and Joseph Oates took part from CooperBurnett, joining up with 15 other participants. Over the years, the Walk Tonbridge Marathon – jointly organised by James Pavlou from Walk Tonbridge and Katie Hilsdon from CooperBurnett - has grown rapidly. Last year, there were an incredible 225 walkers and, this year, James has set the goal of encouraging 300 people to take part!
Over the years, the Walk Tonbridge Festival has raised an incredible £88,000 for charity, with around £43,000 of that heading to the Tonbridge foodbank, Sustain.
TeamCB will be represented on Sunday 21 September by Sarah Strong, Joseph Oates, Ayla Clissold and Joshua Hayes, who are being joined by Ayla’s partner, Mike, and Tammy, one of Sarah’s neighbours.
Partner, Sarah Strong, has completed every single Walk Tonbridge Marathon to date and says: “I’m back in 2025 to collect my fifth medal and t-shirt for my collection.”
Over the years, a number of other corporate teams have taken part in the Walk Tonbridge Marathon and, this year, a team of eight from Tonbridge-based, ABMV Chartered Accountants, has signed up.
“We are calling the group ‘ABMV and friends’, as we are four from ABMV and four supportive friends!” says Lucinda Lucey, Marketing Manager at the firm. “We’re swapping calculators for comfortable shoes and walking 26 miles to back a great cause for our local community, raising funds for Sustain. We’re aiming to get some fresh air together and prove we can walk that distance, even when our legs stop listening."
Lucinda adds: “I’m most looking forward to the camaraderie and crossing the finish line together. And, least, discovering that 26 miles is actually… 26 miles and possible blisters!”
