The Our Moon ball, which was held at The Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday 2 October, raised an amazing £8150 for the charity! We were delighted to support the ball with an advert in the programme and a contribution to the raffle and Partner, Gemma Gillespie, went to the event, as did the Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, Cllr Chris Woodward.

Our Moon Education provides bright but financially-disadvantaged young people from a rural part of Zambia with the skills, knowledge and dispositions to access quality higher education. The charity is run by Helen Leale-Green, who is a member of the networking group Network B2B, along with Gemma.

Ball guests were moved by the speech given by Our Moon student Quincy, as well singing by another student, Janet.

“Thanks to all of you for the part you played in helping us raise this money,” says Helen Leale-Green. “I had hoped we would raise enough money to change one student's life, but this is enough to pay the direct costs of two students. Both Quincy and Janet can attest to how much an opportunity like this can change their lives and they demonstrate that, even while at university, they are changing the lives of many more. It seems to me to be the best way to empower people - by providing them with the education and personal guidance so that they can inspire their peers and generations to come to contribute to change.”
