CooperBurnett property litigation Partner, John Spence, has been formally elected as President of the Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge & District Law Society

We are very proud at CooperBurnett that property litigation Partner, John Spence, has been formally elected as President of the Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge & District Law Society (TWTDLS). He has been involved with the organisation since 2019, when he replaced fellow Partner Gemma Gillespie on the Council.

At the recent AGM, Sarah Strong, Senior Associate in our Private Client team, was also voted onto the Council.

“It’s a great honour to be named as President of our local Law Society,” says John. “The organisation does much to support the work of lawyers in this area and it’s a really useful way to develop and support those in our profession. I am also delighted this year that Sarah has joined me on the Council.”

CooperBurnett has been closely involved with the organisation, which represents solicitors practicing and living in West Kent, for a number of years. Partners Victoria Sampson and Katie Gillam have held the position of President in the past, as did former Partner Jonathan Smithers, who went on to be President of the Law Society of England and Wales and is now Chief Executive Officer at Arthritis Australia.

“It really is wonderful to have somebody from CooperBurnett in the position of President of the TWTDLS once again and we know that John be fantastic in the role,” says Victoria. “We are also proud that Sarah has joined the Council this year and know she’ll really enjoy the experience.”

Adds Partner Joseph Oates: “The TWTDLS does really sterling work locally supporting our profession and we know it will really benefit from John’s leadership.”
