Iola joined TeamCB as a Paralegal in our Corporate and Commercial team four years ago, and commenced her training contract with us in 2024, following the successful completion of her Legal Practice Course (LPC) and Master of Laws (LLM) with Distinction.
Previously, Iola gained a First Class (Hons) degree in Politics and International Relations from the University of Bristol, before completing her Graduate Diploma in Law and LPC, both with Distinction, at the University of Law.
Iola has qualified into our Corporate and Commercial department, where she will continue working closely with a team that includes Partners Victoria Sampson and Russell Brinkhurst, and Katie Hilsdon, Natalie Lai and Molly Mackay.
“Having worked alongside Iola for four years, I have seen her grow and develop and am very proud that she’s now qualified as a solicitor,” says Victoria Sampson. “She’s such a valuable member of our Corporate and Commercial team and I’m looking forward to seeing her continue to flourish.”
Adds Iola: “CooperBurnett has been amazing in supporting me throughout my training contract and in recognising the value that people can bring even where they might not follow a traditional working pattern. I’ve been able to work and subsequently qualify while raising my children, which is not always common during your training contract.”
Asked what she enjoys about working in the Corporate and Commercial team, Iola says:
“I enjoy the feeling of knowing we have done a good job for our clients, particularly if we are able to find solutions or information that adds real value to them or their business. It’s also rewarding to build a solid relationship with clients, which is something I have been able to do because I’ve been in the Corporate and Commercial team longer than the traditional six-month seat.”
In her spare time, Iola enjoys running and, earlier in the year, completed the Brighton & Hove 10k for our current charity of choice, The Good Company People, in an impressive 45 minutes and 28 seconds!
“I find ideas come to me while I’m running and that’s not just to do with work,” she says. “Going for a run definitely helps me to unwind and think clearly.”
