The last official event of this year’s Walk Tonbridge Festival – the ‘Tonbridge From Above’ exhibition – took place on the weekend of Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November at Tonbridge School. During the week, James Pavlou from Walk Tonbridge popped up to visit the foodbank, Sustain, at Tonbridge Baptist Church with some food donations and money raised during the event.
This means – drum roll – that the total raised for Sustain during the Walk Tonbridge Festival has grown to £11,589.07 – with the Festival raising just over £20,000 in total (taking into account fundraising for other charities during the Walk Tonbridge Marathon).
Here at CooperBurnett LLP, we are beyond proud to have supported the Walk Tonbridge Festival since its launch and thrilled with how much has been donated to Sustain.
Emma Lander, Community Lead at Sustain, says: “Thank you all so much for this fabulous support - it means the world to us.”
Sustain currently works with around 90 families each week and will be using the funds raised to help keep its food bank stocked with supplies. It costs around £1,500 per week to keep the Sustain larder stocked with tins and fresh food – which means the amount raised from the Walk Tonbridge Festival will keep it running for seven weeks!
Currently, Sustain is particularly looking for donations including tinned meat, fruit and vegetables as well as dry foods like pasta, biscuits and rice and these can be left at Tonbridge Baptist Church reception 9.00am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
