WHEN DID YOU FIRST START WORKING WITH COOPERBURNETT?
“For a number of years now; I know Oliver Bussell has been our main contact from before I joined the team at JD Health.”
WHAT SUPPORT DOES COOPERBURNETT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS?
“London Women’s Clinic has continued to expand its presence in the regions surrounding London. Right now, we’re opening several new centres each year. In each case, we lease a building and Oliver has supported us with securing our most recent centres, as well as re-negotiating existing leases.
We are currently taking space in north London and will continue to expand in the foreseeable future, with CooperBurnett definitely being involved.”

HAS COOPERBURNETT HELPED YOU TO OVERCOME ANY PARTICULAR CHALLENGES?
“I’ve spent a long time working in the US, so I’m not always as familiar with the legal aspects and process of property deals in the UK. Demystifying the process is probably the biggest win from instructing CooperBurnett, helping me to understand what I do need to worry about and what I don’t.
Oliver is very helpful because he gives us context in respect of issues we might be worried about, which helps us judge the risk. On the other hand, he makes very clear to us those really big points that we shouldn’t be too commercial about. A recent example was a lease with pre-emption rights, which would not have been binding as drafted; another was a long lease of premises with leases registered against the freehold title and expired charges, neither of which the landlord’s solicitor had much interest in resolving.
Although he’s unfailingly friendly and polite, Oliver doesn’t want to waste time – ours or his – and his focus is always on getting us to the finish line.”
