Shannen brings with her experience in a broad range of litigation, including Probate disputes and personal injury claims, as well as property litigation.
“We are pleased to welcome Shannen to our Property Litigation team,” says Joseph Oates, Partner and Head of Contentious at CooperBurnett LLP. “Her wide experience in the field of litigation will prove really useful to our team and we are enjoying having her as part of TeamCB.”
Shannen says she’s ‘always enjoyed the property side of litigation’.
“Individuals and, indeed, corporates are often highly invested in and territorial when it comes to their property and I am committed to guiding them through their disputes to achieve a positive outcome,” she explains.
While Shannen was most recently working with a firm based on the south coast, she has worked in Tunbridge Wells previously.
“Tunbridge Wells is a lovely town to work in and very vibrant,” she says. “It is home to a large number of valuable properties, which makes property disputes inevitable. This is where my expertise as a Property Litigation lawyer comes into play”.
Shannen has always worked in the field of litigation, including as a personal injury lawyer and with an insurance law firm defending complex insurance claims.
“I always wanted to be a lawyer, even when I was at school,” says Shannen. “I often saw people walk away from disputes in both their personal and professional lives, choosing to bury the issue instead of addressing it. I always felt this was the wrong approach. Instead, I developed a strong tendency to help others resolve conflicts and pursue their rights and entitlements.”
Shannen says she’s enjoying settling into life at TeamCB, adding that everyone has been ‘lovely and friendly’. She’s been impressed by CooperBurnett’s charity challenges and would be interested in doing one herself, as long as she’s got some company along the way.
Outside of work, Shannen is an avid skier. At home, she enjoys cooking and reading mystery novels, while she also plays the keyboard and guitar for ‘her own enjoyment’.
