The 27 walkers – including Head of Accounts, Gareth Warner, who has smashed all of our charity challenges over the years – raised £10,000 for Jigsaw South East and this was pound-matched by CooperBurnett’s equity partners, resulting in £20,000 heading to the children’s bereavement charity!
Trainee solicitor, Joshua Hayes, who was one of the walkers, said knowing the equity partners were stepping up to match what was raised inspired him to ‘walk further’.
On the morning of Tuesday 29 July, Zoe Pizzie, Charity Director at Jigsaw South East, visited CooperBurnett to thank the team and celebrate how much was raised.
“The CooperBurnett charity challenge was absolutely phenomenal,” said Zoe. “It’s been a real pleasure to get to see the CB family work so collaboratively to supportive a local charity. A huge thank you to everyone involved.”
The £20,000 raised will allow the charity to run ten of its flagship Jigsaw South East Bereavement Support Group Programmes over a year, working with over 200 children and young people.
“However, the ripple effect of that support goes further than those 200 children – to their wider family and professionals they come into contact with, including their teachers,” added Zoe.
Last week, Jigsaw South East took 120 people to AirHop Adventure & Trampoline Park in Guildford to mark the end of the school year. Children from age two to 18 not only had lots of fun but felt supported in a space with other children who had suffered a bereavement. It was also an opportunity for parents and carers to chat and share experiences.
“Knowing that the funds raised will be supporting bereaved children in our area kept us all going – through rain, wind and up endless hills,” said Partner, Victoria Sampson. “Thank you so much for everyone who sponsored us!”
