£2400 raised for the Lord’s Taverners when Wood & Pilcher challenged CooperBurnett and an ‘elite’ group of Taverners to an afternoon of cricket.

A fantastic £2400 was raised for the Lord’s Taverners on Thursday 23 August when estate agent Wood & Pilcher challenged CooperBurnett and an ‘elite’ group of Taverners to an afternoon of cricket at The Nevill Ground in Tunbridge Wells. CooperBurnett was the eventual winner, in what was a close fought contest. 

The Twenty20 match was umpired by Chris Cowdrey, who was ably assisted by John Pilcher from Wood & Pilcher. The CooperBurnett team – which included Thomas Newlyn, Jonathan Rowe, John Spence and Andrew Hawkins – was delighted to be joined by Paul Prichard, who played for England and Essex and is currently the Dorset coach.

Players who came along as part of Lord’s Taverners also included well-known actress Lorraine Chase, while Southborough Cricket Club also supported the fundraising event.

The teams enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea during the match and a fish supper afterwards – which was kindly provided by Wood & Pilcher.

The Lord’s Taverners is the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity dedicated to giving disadvantaged and disabled young people a sporting chance.
